I hope you all are doing well. Here is the current information for this week! Please read until the end.
If a student has outstanding work, please turn that in as soon as possible. I do my best to email each student their outstanding assignments weekly but as you can imagine that list can unfortunately get quite long. If a student has missing work a place holder zero is put into Power Schools. I am more than happy to change it when the work is completed but it will have a -5 point deduction each day it is late. I will typically grade late work on Mondays so it may take a few days for the grade to get changed on my end. Please do your best to turn in the work on time to get full credit.
Even though we have been in the COVID world for a year at this point and it can put a huge damper on motivation and drive we need to still be present and active during our classes online. Students are receiving a Skill Development grade that tracks preparedness, playing with us in class, and participation in class discussions. Slowly, I have been seeing a decline in participation when students are online (virtual and Plan B). I know this situation is not ideal for anyone but please make sure that you are following with the class and paying attention. If there are problems unmuting, camera being on, etc. contact me ASAP so I can fully understand the issue.
Marching Band Rehearsals
We had our first Marching Band rehearsal on Thursday of this past week! Very exciting to finally start rehearsing as a full band. As stated in the last newsletter, due to CCS guidelines wind musicians are only permitted to play together outside with musician masks and bell covers on their horns.
Our next rehearsal is TOMORROW, Tuesday, February 16th from 4-5 pm and Thursday February 18th from 4-5 pm. Students may be dropped off at 3:45 pm at the front carpool loop in order to start rehearsal right at 4 pm. If transportation is a burden students are permitted to stay with me after school but must wear a mask the entire time and stay within my supervision. Early is on time and on time is late!
Tomorrow’s weather looks promising but I’ll have to watch Thursdays forecast. Expect a decision on Thursday’s rehearsal by Wednesday evening.
I would love to see a few more of: flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, and tubas! I would highly recommend considering coming to our rehearsals. Since we can not march on the field rehearsals are all music based. Our opportunity to perform at football games is dependent on student involvement, without enough participation we will not be able to perform.
If there are any questions or concerns you need to share with me please feel free to email me!
Have a great week!
