Mr. Lee’s Newsletter 3/25

NEWSLETTER FOR 24 MARCH 2019

CUT TIME ACCOUNTS:  Most students now have access to their Cut Time accounts (if your child does not have one, they need to see me ASAP).  We will now begin establishing parent accounts that allow you to view assignments, financial obligations, calendar of events, email and text updates, etc.  Instructions to access your account will be emailed out later this week.

PLAYING ASSESSMENTS:  Students will be performing a variety of playing assessments over the next two weeks.  The required items for each assignment, as well as grades will be posted in the Cut Time accounts.  Assessments must be completed by 25 March. Grades will also be available in PowerSchool

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEMESTER: Students have received the calendar of events from March through May.  There may be a few changes as things like the 6th Grade Band Recruitment pop up that we will need to throw into the calendar.  The calendar has enough to allow students to plan themselves accordingly for at least the next month.  Remaining events will be added to the calendar in Cut Time as the confirmed dates become available, hopefully, in the next week.

WINTERGUARD:  The MP Winterguard placed 5th in their class at CWEA Championships over the weekend.  They worked extremely hard this season and I am proud of the progress they made.  The had the opportunity to go to the middle school today to do a recruiting push for the next marching band season.  The performance will be 3:30 p.m. in the main gym.

BAND BOOSTERS PARENT MEETING (IMPORTANT):  Mark your calendar for our next Band Booster Parent Meeting scheduled for 16 April 2019 at 6:30 p.m.  We have a full agenda and need to have everyone in attendance!

BBQ FUNDRAISER AND YARD SALE:  The Yard sale fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, 30 March 2019 from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00pm on the band practice field (auxiliary gym if it rains). You can rent a spot for the Yard sale, 12×12 is $20 and 24×12 is $35. Those interested should contact Brenda Black at 704-305-6887 or at btb91271@yahoo.com

The BBQ sale portion will be the same day from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  All band students have been given 5 tickets to sell. Tickets are $10 each, with $2 of each sale going to the students band account.  All money/ unsold tickets are due Thursday, 28 March 2019. Unsold tickets that are not returned will be charged to your students band account.  Again, contact Brenda Black to rent a space for the Yard Sale or to volunteer to help with the event. Brena Black 704-305-6887 or btb91271@yahoo.com. This is an all hands on deck event!  We look forward to seeing you there!

MIDDLE SCHOOL TUTORING SESSIONS: We have a huge interest in tutoring from our middle school students!  There are many reasons to offer these sessions with the greatest being our ability to recruit and retain band students for years to come. Your participation in this is not mandatory, but is greatly appreciated.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING SESSIONS: Leadership training is an opportunity to prepare students considering a leadership position next year in either band or color/winterguard.  While they do not guarantee you a position on the leadership team and are not mandatory, they are highly encouraged.

BAND STATEMENTS:  All Students will receive statements this week.

ARENA WORK OPPORTUNITIES:  Statements are going out this week.  If you owe money or if you are looking to build up your individual band account, arena work is a great opportunity and are posted on our Facebook page as they become available. Currently, there are 3 spots open the 7 and 8 April for the Spartan Race (5:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.). Contact Mrs. Lori Good at mpbandwork@gmail.com to be scheduled or for information.

BAND AWARDS BANQUET:  Mark your Calendars, 7 May 2019 (Tuesday). Start making plans now!

MARCHING BAND MEMBER PHOTOS: Unfortunately, Band Photos had to be put on the back burner but are still planning to offer Marching Band photos.  As additional information becomes available we will let you know when these will take place.
