North Davidson HS Fall Festival of Bands

This Weekend

FALL FESTIVAL OF BANDS THIS WEEKEND:  This weekend will be our fourth and final contest of the season.  For those interested, I have posted the directors’ packet on Facebook to give you an idea of the layout, schedule, etc. at this contest.  The intent will be to try to have most items loaded on the trailers prior to Saturday morning.  If we can get majority of percussion equipment loaded and props loaded on Friday after the game, then Saturday’s loadout should be a little simpler.  Schedule for the day is as follows (tentative):

  • CALL TIME AT SCHOOL: 8:00 a.m.
  • VISUAL REHEARSAL: 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
  • EAT/PACK/LOAD:9:05 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.
  • TRAVEL: 9:45 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • LUNCH IN THE LOT: 11:00 a.m. – 11:20 a.m.
  • PROP SET-UP AND PROP MOVE: 11:25 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • VISUAL WARM-UP:12:35 p.m. – 1:10 p.m.
  • SNACK (GRAB AND GO)/UNIFORM GRAB: 1:10 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.
  • DRESS FOR PERFOMANCE: 1:20 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.
  • WARM-UP: 1:45 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • MOVE TO GATE:2:30 p.m. – 2:40 p.m.
  • PERFORMANCE:2:45 p.m.
  • AWARDS: 3:00 p.m.
  • LOT CONCERT FOR PARENTS: 3:30 p.m.
  • DRESS/PACK/LOAD:3:45 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • APPROXIMATE ARRIVAL TO SCHOOL: 6:00 p.m.
  • UNPACK/DISMISSAL: 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PEP RALLY THIS FRIDAY:  All high school band marching band students and colorguard will be going to the elementary school this Friday to perform a pep rally for the students.  All students will receive a permission form and will need to turn this in by Thursday, 1 November to attend.  We will leave the school at 8:30 a.m. and arrive back by 10:30 a.m.  I am in need of someone to drive the small trailer to haul our instruments.  If anyone is available to do so, please let me ASAP.

SENIOR NIGHT FRIDAY NIGHT:  This Friday’s football game will be the last home game of the regular season.  On this night, we celebrate our Seniors for their work and dedication to the program. With that being said, there will be a lot of things going on and we need to be highly organized in all facets. Schedule for the night:

  • CALL TIME AT SCHOOL: 4:45 p.m.
  • LOAD PERCUSSION EQUIPMENT/PROPS FOR MOVE TO STADIUM: 4:50 p.m. – 5:10 p.m.
  • DINNER:5:10 p.m.
  • DRESS:5:40 p.m.
  • MOVE TO STADIUM:6:10 p.m.
  • WARM-UP AT STADIUM: 6:20 p.m.
  • SENIORS REPORT TO FIELD HOUSE GATE TO MEET PARENTS: 6:45 p.m.
  • SENIOR NIGHT RECOGNITION: 7:05 p.m.
  • BLOCK FOR STAR SPANGLED BANNER: 7:15 p.m.
  • STAR SPANGLED BANNER: 7:20 p.m.
  • KICK-OFF:7:30 p.m.
  • PERFORM AT HALFTIME w/ SPECIAL PRESENTATION
  • PERCUSSION/PROP PACK AND LOAD: Remainder of game

MATTRESS FUNDRAISER COMING UP:  On 8 November 2018 at 6:00 p.m., we will be hosting our Parent Meeting for our annual Mattress Fundraiser.  PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND THIS!!!!  The band receives $250 if we are able to get 50 parents/guardians in the door for this meeting.  We receive an additional $5.00 per parent/guardian we get above that number (up to $500).  That is free money for the band for a meeting that will last no more than 30 minutes. Please make an attempt to come!!! Information concerning this fundraiser has been posted on Facebook and shared through e-mail.  Please share the event invite link from our Facebook page and the event letter with everyone you know.  Let’s make this a huge success.

APPAREL SALE:  I am passing out order forms for additional band apparel this week.  There are lots of great choices.  Please look through the catalogs and if you would like to make a purchase, please have orders and money turned in no later than 8 November.  Depending on how much is sold, we may receive some money back, so this could be considered a mini fundraiser, if you will.  Checks need to be made payable to the Mount Pleasant Band.
