THE TASKS AHEAD……..
Hope everyone is doing well and that you have minimal damage, if any, from this past weekend’s weather event. We have a busy week ahead of us.
POWER Block Attendance vs. Practice Logs: I am adopting the same policy Mr. Tulbert had set in regards to POWER Block attendance vs. practice log turn-in. Students must attend two POWER Block sessions per week or turn in a practice log of 50 minutes per every POWER Block session they miss. If they miss one POWER Block session during the week, students turn in one 50-minute practice log. If they miss both POWER Block sessions during the week, they must do two 50-minute practice logs. All practice logs are due the on Monday following the week that you missed POWER Block. Due to the transition between Mr. Tulbert and myself, I have not been so stringent on this over the past two weeks. I am trying to get myself organized and this was placed on the back burner. Starting today, this policy will be followed and will be adhered to in a strict manner. All practice logs for missed POWER Block sessions must be turned in by the following Monday in which you missed a POWER Block session. All practice logs for the 1stQuarter should be turned in by October 26thfor credit. There are 4 ½ weeks left of the quarter.
Progress Reports: These will be going out tomorrow. Again, because of the transition, everyone’s grades are high. More will be demanded of you and expected of you will, which in turn will affect your grade. Keep working hard, and it won’t be an issue.
Class Fees: On the progress reports, I have notated whether your child has paid their $10 semester class fee or not. I am basing this off the receipts that Mr. Tulbert has written. I am not totally sure who all have paid fees online (that is on my “to-do list” this week). If you feel like there is a mistake with this, please let me know ASAP.
Rehearsals: As stated in my Facebook post yesterday, because of the weather event we just had and the possibility of getting new drill this week, I have tweaked the rehearsal schedule for the next two weeks (see below). Also, please note all attendance at all rehearsals is mandatory. Emergency cases are expected (sicknesses, etc.). If a child has an appointment, please notify me in advance of this so I can plan accordingly. Please see my Facebook post on the band page for more details…….
Props: Tomorrow, after rehearsal, we will need to re-set up the pop-up tent village to house the props outside again and get these props out of the hall. Also, with us having rehearsal this Saturday, this may be a good time to finish up any maintenance that might need to be done to the ramps and back drops. I know we have two new ramps that need to be painted and wheels put on. Also, there are a few back drops that need some wheel replacements. While finishing these things up, it would not hurt to go ahead and get the tires pumped up, as well. I know this is a huge undertaking and I greatly appreciate everyone who has been involved with this.
Prop and Front Ensemble Set-Up: I am tentatively looking to do a possible dry run of prop and front ensemble set-up for our performances with parents who are wanting to be involved with the movement/set-up of these things at our competitions/games. This will most likely occur on Thursday, 27 September. More to follow…………..
Football Game (Away): Since it is an away football game this Friday, we will need to haul the small trailer with our equipment. Any volunteers who can haul this trailer would be greatly appreciated.
