With the 2021-2022 school year ending and the marching season around the corner it seems like we are slowly going “back to normal”. The COVID pandemic affected everyone in the country as well as the rest of the world and unfortunately the MP Band Program was no different. Throughout 2020-2021 our students were not able to rehearse indoors as an ensemble until after spring break, 4/13/2021. COVID restrictions began in March of 2020 leaving our program as “dormant” for well over a year without the opportunity to perform, fundraise, and share our love of music.
Due to many contributing factors, we are now in “dire straits” when it comes to finances. A marching band program is estimated to cost $25,000 to have a successful and typical season that the MP Band is accustomed to. Staff pay, transportation fees, instrument repair, food, guard costumes, paint, competition registration fees, props, drill writers, and flags are just a few of the budget items that occur annually and contribute to the $25,000.
In order to allow current MP Band marchers to have a season they have not been able to experience for almost two years, we as a Booster program have decided on a trophy fundraiser. In our band room the legacy of excellence the program has become throughout the years can now be yours! We will be selling our trophies 2017-older for $25 to aid our marching band program. Part of the funds acquired from the sale will be used to purchase a plaque to remember the achievements from the trophy.
